I received a call from Greece yesterday to let me know that My Mother's Coat won the Grand Prix at Animasyros Animation festival!!! I am incredibly happy to have been awarded a prize in my country and very honoured. Here is what the judges said about it. Thank you so much!

'For its overall integrity and sincerity, in the use of artistic means, narration and storytelling, for its expressive merits and most of all for its ability to create vivid and immediately recognizable environments and recollections of memories and emotion in a most minimalistic way, the jury awards with animasyros 4.0 Grand Prize the film “My mother’s coat” by Marie Margaux Tsakiri- Scanatovic from Greece & UK'


My Mother's Coat will be screened in DOK Leipzig this October! Very honoured! It will be screened at the ANIMADOK programme on Thursday October 20, 2011 at 5 p.m. It will also be screened in the Boston Museum of Fine Arts in the opening evening of their new wing.


I was in Slovakia for four days at festAnca animation festival, where i did a talk about the 25th anniversary of the Animation course at the Royal College of Art. The warm welcome and hospitality i received and the wonderful people i met there, including Veljko Popovic from the jury, made this festival one of the nicest ones i have been in and I will be looking forward to going back in the future!


'My Mother's Coat' will be screened in the 65th Edinburgh Film Festival in June, as part of 'Animated Realities' but also as an opening short to the feauture 'Mourning for Anna'. Here are the screening dates and venues:

I just finished working on short animation 'Night Thoughts', a trailer for Helen Simpson's short story which is published in Granta Magazine's new issue on Feminism. You can view it here!


My film 'Eric, do you exist?' will be screened in Animayo! festival in Gran Canaria on the 3-8 of May. Also 'My Mother's Coat' will be in competition in Curtocircuito International Film festival from the 6th-15th of May, in Santiago de Compostella!


I will be drawing as part of Its Nice That collective this weekend, 26th and 27th of March, at Pick Me Up, an exhibition of contemporary graphic art at Somerset House.


I was just browsing on the Tricky Women's Animation Festival website and I found out my film has been selected in the Competition programme! Nice surprise!!


I have been helping out Celyn Brazier at Nexus Productions for the past two weeks with animation and colouring for his new beautiful music video for Ninja Tunes. I will be posting a link to the final animation when it will be completed.


I just finished teaching two days of experimental life drawing at the City and Guilds of London Art School in Kennington. I am so proud of my lovely students who produced some beautiful drawings!


'My Mother's Coat' will be screened at the 18th Internationales Trickfilm-Festival in Stuttgart on May 03-May 08. 2011! Yeyy! It is in competition for the student film category 'Young Animation'!


I've been helping out my friend Daniela Negrin for the past couple of days, doing some animation for her new film 'El Macho'! She is at the moment working on it at the NFTS and will be done in February. It is a beautiful and moving film with some brilliant animation in it! Watch out for it next month!


I just found out through my friend Callum Cooper that our films are in competition at the Premier Plans, Festival d'Angers European First Film Festival! Im so happy! 'My Mother's Coat' will be screened as part of the 'PLANS ANIMES EUROPEENS' programme. The festival takes place from the 21-30 January 2011 in Angers, France.


'Jons and the Spider' was apparently screened at Expotoons International Animation festival in Buenos Aires last week! I was not informed so i assume the version they screened had no sound and was missing the last shot! Apologies to anyone who attended the festival and was wondering what was wrong with it! I wish I would have been contacted, as I would have provided them with the finished version...!

Just got informed that 'My Mother's Coat' will be shown at Melbourne International Animation Festival in June 2011! It will be part of a screening dedicated exclusively to the Royal College of Art! Very honoured!


I just realised that my film 'Eric, do you exist?' was screened at the Kiskakas Animation Festival 2010 in Hungary this October, alongside various of my fellow classmates' work! Nice surprise!


I am very happy that 'My Mother's Coat' will be screened at the International Women's Film Festival in Seoul, which will be held from the 7th-14th April, 2011!


My new film, 'Jöns and the Spider', is completed! For the past week i have been working on the last shot and on the sound design with Tom Lowe. Now the film is ready for the Fotokino festival in Marseille, where it will be part of 'Les Petites formes' screening, taking place from the 1st until the 24th of December.


'My Mother's Coat' wins a prize! My film got awarded Best film by the Estonian Academy of Arts' animation students jury, in the Animation festival Animated Dreams in Tallinn, Estonia. The students gave me a lovely sculpture that they made themselves, a certificate and a lovely bottle of estonian liquor! Thank you so much for everything!


'My Mother's Coat' was showing at the Animae Caribe Animation and New Media's Film Festival in Trinidad and Tobago this past week! The festival took place from the 22nd until the 28th of November. Congratulations to my lovely friend Dave Prosser for winning the Best Student Award, for his beautiful film 'Matter Fisher'.


'My Mother's Coat' is part of the competition programme in Animated Dreams animation festival in Tallinn. It will be also screened as part of the Animated Documentary programme.


I just finished working on an E-on advert with my dear friend and very talented animator Tommaso de Sanctis at MPC. We animated several little mice in Photoshop, protesting against energy saving companies. You can see the animations in December in several public places, including the London Underground!


Received some lovely news last week, 'My Mother's Coat' will be now be supported by the British Arts Council. Apart from funding and application support for festivals, they have also included my film in their online film library.


'My Mother's Coat' is showing in Barcelona this week, at L'Alternativa Animation festival, from the 12th-20th November.


'My Mother's Coat' is showing at the Onedotzero Adventures in Motion 2010 at the BFI this weekend! It will be screened under the programme 'ladymation', a celebration of female directors in animation!


'My Mother's Coat' will be shown at the Bradford Animation Festival, from the 9-13th of November!


'My Mother's Coat' is shortlisted in the Animation category at the Vimeo Festival+Awards! The festival will take place from the 8th-9th of October, in New York.


My film 'My Mother's Coat' is at the moment exhibited at the Royal College of Art Summer Show 2010. The exhibition will be open to the public until the 4th of July!
